I just realized that I had left the class schedule out of date. We’ve added a 4:00pm Adult class on Wednesday, and for some reason I never put the 4:00pm Tuesday and Thursday classes on the schedule. It’s fixed.

Fall picnic announced!

Mark your calendars for September 25! In addition to our regular Saturday workshops, the 25th is also the date of the Fall Student Picnic! Come on out to the Southampton Township Park and have a fun time grilling, eating, and hanging out with all the families from the Chambersburg Academy of Martial Arts.

New Coat of Paint

I forgot to get pictures, but today we put a new coat of paint on the inside of the dojang.

It’s so bright and shiny now!

Saturday Workshops schedule updated!

The Saturday workshops schedule for July and August has been updated.

Special note: There will not be a black belt class in July, as the class would have fallen on the July 4 Independence Day holiday.

Test on Saturday was pretty good. Black belt testing started right at 8:00am, and was a pretty physical test. It was pretty much what I’ve come to expect in a black belt test. A couple new 2nd dans, a few promotions from junior to senior black belt, and one red stripe joining the ranks of 1st dan black belts.

I didn’t ask permission to photograph the black belt test, since this is the first time I’ve done photos at WSAMA. I took a fair number of pictures of the colored belt test.

I was pretty hesitant to get too aggressive in photo-taking, so most of my pics are from the same angle. Maybe next time I will discuss photo-taking with Master Vergara before the test and maybe feel more comfortable getting some better pictures. I’ll also remember my good zoom lens.

ANYWAY!

Informal summer picnic June 20th

After classes on Saturday, June 20, CAMA and some other schools will be holding an informal summer picnic.

If you think you might come, please let Master Ford know, and bring some drinks (non-alcoholic, please) or chips or something.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided.

Sounds like fun to me!

June test schedule announced!

The adult testing schedule for June is now available!

Adult belt tests will take place on Saturday, June 6 at the West Shore Academy of Martial Arts. Directions can be found here or by contacting Master Ford.

Black belt tests begin at 8:00am, and are open only to black belts and invited colored belts.

Colored belt tests are scheduled to begin at 10:00am, but could be delayed until black belt testing is completed. Colored belts are expected to wait outside the studio until black belt testing is finished.

Remember! If you are late to test, you don’t test!

Summer uniforms starting May 18

Don’t forget, summer uniforms begin May 18.

This means no more gi jacket until fall!

Pants, belt, and appropriate shirt required: Blue shirts for colored belts, black shirts for black belts.
